Staple leather pieces are key to your closet collection. Anything black as well. You can throw a vest over it, a blazer, neat pattern cardi, layer necklaces, belt it, scarf it up or go simple with a pop designer or classic handbag. Also, on your feet the options are endless....short booties, sandals, tall boots if the dress is short enough, loafers with socks, peep toes, etc...you get the point. Be creative in what you wear.
