new fall jacket idea.

I wanna make this jacket! Sweater sleeves with an old denim jacket cut into a vest. Love the look. OR I guess I could just layer my already cut up Levis denim vest over a sweater? ahhh ha.

jacket project.

I was feeling inspired one Sunday afternoon to craft a jacket I'd been wanting to put together for some time. I had all the supplies I needed and a bit of guidance from my expertise crafty sister Kristin so I was good to go! See my process below and lemme know what you think...
Go buy an old beat up army jacket as well as an old black leather jacket for its arms. Carefully seam rip the sleeves off the army jacket for your arm pattern.
Open up the arm so its laying flat, measure it around your own arm for desired width and mark where to cut. Then cut open leather arm, lay under army arm & cut to make same size as where you marked.
Now pin the leather arm together along the edge so you can neatly sew on your machine. Remove pins as you sew...
When you are done sewing the arm back together, iron down the seam so its flush against your arm for comfortable wear.
Pin the arm pit to connect to your army jacket. Follow same process of sewing.
Voila! Finished army jacket with leather arms. As soon as I capture a picture of me wearing it, Ill re-post! I've already worn it a bunch and gotten great responses on it. I'm already getting requests to make more...

Supplies you need to make this jacket:
-old army jacket & leather jacket
-sewing machine (thank you matt!)
-pins
-iron
-fabric marker
-seam ripper or scissor
-rotary cutter

DIY ipod leather case.

Off to Sweden and needed a lil case protector for my new ipod touch. What a nice lil DIY craft project to do real quick with some leather scraps I had laying around. Of course I chose the pieces that were oddly shaped and had a test print of my initials that my sister was testing for work one day, but figured it would do the trick! It worked perfectly. Just what I needed. Thought this could be a good idea for a nice DIY Christmas gift too? Any takers? Excited for the cold in Sweden! Off I go! xx

DIY booties.

Bought a new pair of black suede booties for the winter, but didn't like the heel so I had a craft night and painted them all black! Way better, right?
I know its not the most crafty project, but sometimes when you purchase things they just aren't exactly the way you'd prefer them to be....have an eye & maybe you can change em to exactly what you need.

rug bags.

Salvaged Native American Rug totes from Spool No. 72.
Thought this was a neat idea using old wool rugs to make each individual unique totes. Add a braided leather strap and you are good to go. I would make mine deeper to carry some farmers market goodies or something. These days being green is the way to go!

liz thayer.

Liz Thayer does it all herself. She designs, creates and sells her goodies on her own website as well as made to order how you'd prefer. I came across her last summer, meant to post, but got lost in the mess of it all, sorry about that. I've admired her work since then. Check it out or give her a shout. She also sells at Oak in NYC where I was able to hold a few of her pieces. xx

Who doesn't like to layer these days? Everyone is doing it. I enjoy the look of the first image above. Wearing a long or short sleeve tee with a bra-like top layered over it. I shot some examples of pieces that I've collected over sometime.

-Topshop denim bra tank
-Alexis cheetah bra tanks
-Vintage leather & lace top
-Topshop pink bra

sammy.

As soon as I move into my new apt and bust out my sewing machine, this is the first project that will come to mind. I LOVE these leather tie-dye coin purses and clutches with double zippers. Super soft and unique for your cash, makeup, receipts or perhaps to use for everything! You can score these exact ones online or be creative and make one of your own. Ill update you when DIY nights come around.

leather always.

I just love leather. Leather anything.
My friend Lauren & I made leather studded rings one night for fun. I had just gotten my sewing machine for my birthday last year and decided we needed to put it to good use! I had some leather scraps, so we came up with a studded leather ring idea....
